Children’s Review: The Adventures of Captain Underpants by Dav Pilkey

I try very hard to not pop into Riah’s reviews, but I did want to say I was so excited about her starting this series because I remember my nephew Austin LOVING this series. He is graduating from high school this year so it is so fun to see these books again.

The first book in Dav Pilkey's mega-bestselling Captain Underpants series. Now with super-cool foil covers! Shiny! Fun!

George and Harold have created the greatest superhero in the history of their elementary school--and now they're going to bring him to life! Meet Captain Underpants! His true identity is so secret, even HE doesn't know who he is!

Acclaimed author and Caldecott Honor illustrator Dav Pilkey provides young readers with the adventure of a lifetime in this outrageously funny, action-packed, easy-to-read chapter book. With hilarious pictures on every page, THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS is great for both beginning and chapter-book readers.

And like Dav's other best-selling books of humor, it is sure to provide even the most reluctant readers with hours of fun.

What I thought about it

Captain Underpants is about two friends named George and Harold. These friends get into a lot of trouble playing pranks on people and are punished by their principle. Harold and George get a hypnotizing ring and hypnotize their mean principle, Mr. Krupp, into Captain Underpants! After They turn Mr. Krupp into Captain Underpants it just gets crazy. And I loved it.

Why I picked this book…

I wanted to read Captain Underpants because my friends where reading it and let me read a few pages. It was so funny that I wanted to get a copy.

What I liked about this story…

I liked that it was a combination between chapter book and comic book. The art work that goes along with the story makes the book so funny. I liked that we got to see the characters go through so much and watch them solve all kinds of problems. Harold and George get themselves, and Captain Underpants into some crazy situations. It was fun to see how they would get out of trouble.

  1. I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to read Captain Underpants, she's only five so I have to wait a few more years.

    Thanks for the review, Riah.
