I love Tuesdays! These are some of the titles releasing today.

Suddenly, the most unwanted girl in Anglund finds herself desired by all. But Emmeline only wants one-Owen Oak, a dairyman's son, whose slow smiles and lingering glances once tempted her to believe she might someday be loved for herself. I used to murder people for money, but lately it’s become more of a survival technique. Once an assassin, always an assassin. So much for being plain old Gin Blanco. With every lowlife in Ashland gunning for me, I don’t need another problem, but a new one has come to town anyway. Salina might seem like a sweet Southern belle, but she’s really a dangerous enemy whose water elemental magic can go head-to-head with my own Ice and Stone power. Salina also has an intimate history with my lover, Owen Grayson, and now that she’s back, she thinks he’s hers for the taking. Salina’s playing a mysterious game that involves a shady local casino owner with a surprising connection to Owen. But they call me the Spider for a reason. I’m going to untangle her deadly scheme, even if it leaves my love affair hanging by a thread.(Goodreads)

New Hyde Hospital’s psychiatric ward has a new resident. It also has a very, very old one.
Pepper is a rambunctious big man, minor-league troublemaker, working-class hero (in his own mind), and, suddenly, the surprised inmate of a budget-strapped mental institution in Queens, New York. He’s not mentally ill, but that doesn’t seem to matter. He is accused of a crime he can’t quite square with his memory. In the darkness of his room on his first night, he’s visited by a terrifying creature with the body of an old man and the head of a bison who nearly kills him before being hustled away by the hospital staff. It’s no delusion: The other patients confirm that a hungry devil roams the hallways when the sun goes down. Pepper rallies three other inmates in a plot to fight back: Dorry, an octogenarian schizophrenic who’s been on the ward for decades and knows all its secrets; Coffee, an African immigrant with severe OCD, who tries desperately to send alarms to the outside world; and Loochie, a bipolar teenage girl who acts as the group’s enforcer. Battling the pill-pushing staff, one another, and their own minds, they try to kill the monster that’s stalking them. But can the Devil die?(Goodreads)

Ok some of these book covers are eerily gorgeous! Can't wait for Widow's Web! and raft sounds like a good read!

I read The Raft a good while back and it was crazy! I loved it. Survival stories like that keep me on my toes and make me bite my nails.
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of back and forth on the Victor Lavalle. It looks like it would be really good but the "horror" classification on goodreads makes me a little nervous because I'm not a huge fan of Stephen King-ish stuff. I'm still thinking on that one. But I like the sound of it.
Also, Widow's Web sounds awesome. I love elemental magic in stories. It's always so fun!
You *always* manage to have something I need to add to my shopping/wish list! "Such Wicked Intent" looks good, so I'm going to grab the first book ("This Dark Endeavor") and see. :D
ReplyDeleteI'm eagerly awaiting Widow's Web and The Sweetest Spell is on my wish-list. Those two are definitely in the 'to buy- category'! :)
