From left to right: Morgan Rhodes, Jess Spotswood, Elizabeth Richards, me, Fiona Paul, Beth Revis.
The most awesome thing ever!
I had been contacted by Penguin to do an interview with the authors before the event started… Um, can I just stop right here for a moment and say I . Love. Being. A. Book. Blogger! How else would I have ever gotten the chance to stand in in a room to interview 5 amazing authors? Anyway, when the authors arrived at Fiction Addiction they turned to the book store owner and said
“We are supposed to meet with a blogger.”
I can not tell you how excited I was to be that blogger
This is some of the interview:
Each author was so genuine and nice. I loved that each said they love hearing from fans and that one of the best things about being an author is knowing that others get so excited about and love the work they created.
One thing that Beth Revis said that really stuck with me was:
YA is the beating heart of literature.
I could not agree more. No matter what genre I am reading, I always go back to YA.
I invited myself to tag along with Becca to the Breathless Book Tour at Fiction Addition. I’m so glad I did! I so much enjoy these great little, intimate gatherings with authors. There’s always some great insight to glean:
On trunk books:
There’s a reason they were rejected. --Elizabeth Richards
Everything. –Morgan Rhodes
Music is a huge one. It can convey a feeling. Books. --Jessica Spotswood
Art and things that I see. History and the news. –Elizabeth Richards
Inspired by moving around. Getting out and being in nature and around people. –Fiona Paul
Ideas sometimes sneak up on you. –Jessica Spotswood
Like when you’re in the shower or doing dishes. –Fiona Paul
There were lots of laughs, revelations, and of course autographing of books! I am so thankful to Penguin for inviting us, for Fiction Addiction hosting, and the authors for being there!

ReplyDeleteYou know how many fantastic (to me at least!) ideas that I have had while in the shower singing some tunes? A lot, actually. Some of them really might have been fantastic. Anyway, I am very jealous that you were able to meet these wonderful authors. I live in SC and there are never any good YA authors around. I wish they would show some love to my part of the States. They would like it here, I think. Anyway, thanks for the great post and the great giveaway!
