"Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at “Breaking the Spine”, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

What I’m Waiting On

Night of Cake & Puppets (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #2.5)

Night of Cake & Puppets
Laini Taylor
Expected Release Date: November 26, 2013
Series: Daughter of Smoke and Bone #2.5

In Night of Cake & Puppets, Taylor brings to life a night only hinted at in the Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy—the magical first date of fan-favorites Zuzana and Mik. Told in alternating perspectives, it’s the perfect love story for fans of the series and new readers alike. Petite though she may be, Zuzana is not known for timidity. Her best friend, Karou, calls her “rabid fairy,” her “voodoo eyes” are said to freeze blood, and even her older brother fears her wrath. But when it comes to the simple matter of talking to Mik, or “Violin Boy,” her courage deserts her. Now, enough is enough. Zuzana is determined to meet him, and she has a fistful of magic and a plan. It’s a wonderfully elaborate treasure hunt of a plan that will take Mik all over Prague on a cold winter’s night before finally leading him to the treasure: herself! Violin Boy’s not going to know what hit him.

What I’m Thinking

The cover: I am very excited to see if the birdcage on the cover has anything to do with the actual story inside, or if it’s just for looks.

This is a series that really gets to me as I read it. I was in tears through most of The Daughter of Smoke and Bone because I became so involved in the story. One thing I hate about all series that I become attached to is the horrid long wait in between books. Because I am so impatient I adore authors that write novellas and short stories so that I can delve back into that certain world with something brand new while still waiting on what is still to come.

What is your view on novellas and short stories?
Are you in love with this series?

Happy Wednesday!

  2. What a bizarre title. I like it though! I still need to buy & read Shadow and Bone. I've heard great things about it but just haven't gotten round to reading it myself. Nice choice though.
