Blog Tour Interview: Blood Guilt by Marie Treanor

I hope you all will help me welcome one of my favorite authors here today. Marie Treanor has come out with a new series to follow her awesome Awakened by Blood series. I interviewed Marie to learn more about this new book, Blood Guilt.

Blood Guilt Button

Hi Marie! I am so excited to have you here. Could you please tell us a little about yourself?

Thank you! It’s lovely to be back J. About myself, I live in Scotland with my husband of more than twenty years and three kids aged 17, 15 and 8. Oh, and I write – mainly paranormal romance.

Can you tell us about your new book Blood Guilt?

Yes, I’d love to! Blood Guilt is the start of a new vampire romance series, Blood Hunters, which follows on from the Awakened by Blood trilogy (Blood on Silk, Blood Sin and Blood Eternal). This series focuses on the hunters who were Elizabeth’s friends and mentors in the earlier series, and their unexpected relationships with vampires who were their enemies. Blood Guilt focuses on the unhappy hunter Mihaela, who as a child saw her parents murdered by vampires, and her growing obsession with the mysterious vampire Maximilian – who, if you recall, saved her life right at the end of Blood Eternal J.

I LOVED the Awakened By Blood series! Has it been fun to continue with some of the characters we met in that series in this new series?

Thank you, that’s so good to hear! Yes, it’s been like meeting up with old friends and getting to know them better. I’ve had a ball writing it!

Will we get to see glimpses of Elizabeth and Saloman in this new series?

Yes, absolutely! They’re still central to the continuing story, even though the main focus is on different characters. In Blood Guilt, there may be the odd tender moment between them – and a glimpse into Saloman’s past when he first turned Maximilian…

What is your writing process? (Do you write outlines? Do you know how a story is going to end when you start it?)

I do write vague outlines now, and often do more detailed ones for at least parts of the story. I used to fly by the seat of my pants – as soon as I had an idea, I’d start writing without knowing much more about where I was going with it than the main characters names! But you can get into really annoying difficulties that way, and nowadays I’m a bit more disciplined. I usually know how it should end and at least roughly I should get there. Of course, characters don’t always behave and I have to be flexible enough to change my ideas if they’re not working.

What is your favorite genre to read?

I suppose paranormal romance, even more so since I started to write it. But I also love historical novels and crime fiction and a bit of science fiction, and humour. I have broad tastes in reading!

What is your favorite book of all time?

Gulp, I always find that so difficult to answer honestly. I think, in the sense I wish I’d written it as well as loving the book in it’s own right, my favourite is King Hereafter by Dorothy Dunnett, a historical novel about Macbeth which is just wonderful.

What are you reading right now?

I’ve just finished Fifty Shades Darker…

What can we be excited about that is coming from you in the future?

Ooh, well, lots actually! Toward the end of summer, maybe late August or early September, I should be publishing the first of another new series, Serafina’s, about a psychic investigation agency based in Edinburgh, Scotland. The first book is called Serafina and the Silent Vampire, and features a completely different vampire world from the one in Awakened by Blood and Blood Hunters.

Then, I have a third new series beginning with Smoke and Mirrors, all about a mysterious thief with an alarming paranormal gift, looking for a very special treasure.

And of course, I’m just working on a few revisions for my next Blood Hunters story, Blood of Angels…

Thanks so much, Marie for taking the time to answer my questions.

You’re very welcome, Rebecca! It’s been lovely talking to you! Thank you so much for having me here!

BLOOD GUILT
(Blood Hunters, Book 1)
By Marie Treanor
eBook coming 5th June 2012

The first of a new vampire romance series, a sequel to the Awakened by Blood trilogy.

Natural enemies, deadly attraction…

Mihaela, a fearless vampire hunter secretly haunted by loneliness and childhood tragedy, finds it difficult to adjust to the new world order where vampires are not always the bad guys. She's taking a much needed vacation in Scotland when she sees a little boy being chased through the streets of Edinburgh. Rescuing him brings bigger problems - two vampires from her past: Gavril, who killed her family; and the reclusive and troubled Maximilian, gifted Renaissance artist and one-time overlord of the most powerful undead community in the world. Maximilian once saved her life and now needs that favor returned.

The earth moves for Mihaela in more ways than one. From Scotland to Budapest and Malta, she  races against time to prevent a disastrous, vampire-induced earthquake and save an innocent yet powerful child – all while fighting a dreadful attraction to Maximilian, her only ally, whom she can’t afford to trust. For Maximilian, the hunter becomes a symbol of renewed existence, as he struggles to accept his past and rediscovers his appetite for blood and sex - and maybe even happiness.

Marie Treanor has published more than twenty ebooks with small presses, (Samhain Publishing, Ellora’s Cave, Changeling Press and The Wild Rose Press), including a former Kindle bestseller, Killing Joe. Blood on Silk: an Awakened by Blood novel, was her New York debut with NAL.
