TOGETHER!

Did this freak anyone else out yesterday? Maybe it’s because I don’t take change all that well and I have no way of knowing how Amazon buying Goodreads is going to change things for either company… But yeah, after seeing the news yesterday I totally freaked out a little.

Here are a few post about the news:

Are you worried about this at all? Or, do you think this is a match made in heaven?
Let me know in the comments.

Happy reading… and panicking,

  1. I am a little worried... I fear that they will start charging for membership and that just freaks me out, considering amazon is having profit issues.

  2. I'm not really sure what to think about it. I first heard about it through GR and was kind of positive about it through the way they explained it. But after reading Amazon really bought GR (something that I didn't pick up in the GR email) I'm worried. It makes me a little scared what will happen to GR. I love it so much as it is now and I would hate to see that change!

    1. I love GR too! I had the same perception from reading both accounts.

  3. I'm the same as you, I hate changes like this. I really really hope that goodreads stays the same as it is, as in membership stays free, etc. I don't really care about Amazon since I buy books from TBD and chapters.indigo.ca, and other stuff in stores, but Goodreads is one of my most favourite sites, so I'm not going to take big changes about it lightly. I would hate it so much if it changed.

    1. I would hate for it to change too. I don't like any other book site like I do GR.

  4. I love both of these sites separately, but I'm worried about how they will mesh together. I would love to see Goodreads more integrated into Amazon and their book reviews, but I hope on the Goodreads side there aren't many changes. I know many people don't use Amazon at all to buy books so I would hate to see those people pushed away by any changes Amazon would make.

I guess we'll see how this goes but I'm cautiously optimistic.

  6. I haven't really been worried about it. Should I be? The only thing I've thought about it is that I've NEVER had server issues with Amazon and I OFTEN have server issues with Goodreads, so I'm hoping that Amazon will help Goodreads with their ability to stay online so I can stay on Goodreads (cause I actually do keep Goodreads up because I'm a nerd). But other than that, I haven't really been nervous. Hope they don't charge or anything. If they do, I'll probably end up paying cause I'm a GR junkie. According to my computer, GR is my most visited website. NERD. Haha!
